The "Grand Union Flag" is alternately commonly called the "Continental Colors" flag. It is widely considered to be the first National flag of the United States. It has also been referred to as the "Congress Flag", the "Cambridge Flag", and the "First Navy Ensign". This flag consisted of 13 alternating red and white stripes (like the current U.S. flag), but with the canton replaced with the British Union instead of traditional star field.
