About the SeaBees
Who are the SeaBees? The SeaBees are the highly regarded Construction Battalion arm of the US Navy. The name SeaBee comes from the Construction Battalion abbreviation of C.B. 2017 marks the 75th anniversary of the SeaBees official designation as a Battalion during WWII.
The need arose to have a construction force that could engineer and build roads, bridges and other theater of war necessities, while also allowing for fully trained military personnel that could return enemy fire when necessary. The introduction of the SeaBees was the brainchild of Admiral Ben Moreell, who envisioned a group of skilled construction workers who were trained in fighting by US Marine Corp standards.
U.S. Navy SeaBees Motto
The SeaBees motto of “Can Do” has become synonymous with their abilities to forge the way for military actions from WWII thru current engagements in Afghanistan and Iraq. The SeaBees continue their mission with pride, ingenuity, and success as a unique Battalion that is equally equipped at building a fortress, combat engineering or skirmishing with the enemy.
